Grow babies grow! (4 Weeks old)

Everyone keeps asking me for an update on the babies weights. So, as of this morning the weights are:

Josiah: 4 lbs. 5 ounces
Alana: 2 lbs. 10 ounces
Alexa: 2 lbs. 15 ounces

Josiah has become our little "chunky monkey" and seems to wake up just for us every time we are there to see him. Alana is still the smallest but the feistiest! One of the nurses was so excited when we got there yesterday because he said he had taken the cutest pictures of the girls on his iphone. He said they both were awake for about 30 mins. and were totally "playing" together. He said Alana kept trying to pull Alexa's feeding tube and nasal cannula out. Alexa, he said kept sucking on Alana's arm. He was really excited and said he'd send us the pictures. It's great to see the nurses having so much fun with them! They have all changed so much already and are all very responsive. They definitely recognize us and respond to us when we are are there! They've been opening their eyes widely and looking at us and "checking us out". They definitely smile a lot and even the nurses have said that they are very "smiley". So sweet!
Alexa is almost 3 pounds and she is trying to catch up to her brother! The doctors have said that they are no longer considered ICU status and that they are very stable and now only have 1 nurse taking care of all 3 of them. They are calling them "feeders and growers" because all they really need to do is to eat and get bigger and stronger. They still all require a small amount of oxygen and the doctors say that they should outgrow that. Their lungs are still quite immature and so we are praying that their lungs would continue to develop fully and that they'd be able to get off the oxygen, hopefully soon!
We are so thankful that they are all doing so incredibly well! We definitely can't wait to bring them home! I am ready to start taking care of them! They will likely be in the hospital for at least another 4 weeks. So, we are trying to be patient! It's difficult, but we are just so thankful that they are doing so well! Grow babies grow!
