We were at a family party today and Keesha had what must be the best quote, "If it takes a village to raise one child, it is going to take a city to raise three." I tell you that I could not agree with her more. We can't do this alone and we are so blessed to have Rebecca's family near and my parents available via a short flight away. In addition, we have already received meals from people in our small group and the prayer support has been incredible. GGCC, our church, has already been encouraging beyond belief as they share in our journey.
We did give some serious consideration to moving to the burbs where a small down payment would go much much further. However, at this point it just doesn't make any sense. Our two bedroom flat is just fine for now and will likely work for longer than we are even expecting. This pregnancy from the start is far beyond what we can do. God is the creator of life and He did one heck of a miracle to have three babies growing in Rebecca. Once they are born, we will not only need the village, we will need the City! As described previously, we are so thankful for all of the offers for help and will certainly be taking you up on it.
Everyone will be delighted to know that Rebecca has been feeling much better in the most recent week. She still has a bit of nausea but it is less constant than a few weeks ago. Our next checkup is on April 2nd, our 3 year anniversary!

Are we doomed for a minivan???
Okay, one of the scariest moments so far has been going to the car dealer to check out the minivans. I have always loved driving my little sporty cars around and never imagined myself driving a minivan. My Lexus IS and Eric's VW Jetta just don't quite cut it for "triplet transportation". When we first found out about the triplets, we knew we would need to upgrade to a bigger car, but I had no intention of even entertaining the thought of a minivan. So, we started our quest by checking out the larger SUV's and the SUV crossovers. Very cute, but not so practical when you need to strap down 3 honking huge car seats. All the SUV's that have the third row are not "car seat friendly" in the way back. Plus, everyone keeps insisting that the sliding doors on a minivan are a lifesaver, especially when trying to chuck 3 babies, their car seats, and all their gear in and out of the car. Ugghh...I can't believe we are even considering it! I guess God is trying to help me to stop being so "car vain"! Oh well! Maybe once they are old enough to not need the huge car seats, we can jump back into the SUV world. Or maybe we'll fall in love with the minivan and never look back! Hmmm...we'll see!

Innie turning outie (14 weeks!)
It is so weird to see Rebecca show off her tummy and see the start of an outie belly button. Both of us have definitive innies. She is starting to show and the nausea is finally starting to subside! For her, the realization that those jeans just don't fit as well as they used to is a bit of a bittersweet moment.

13 Week Ultrasound
Yesterday was my 13 week doctor appt. I am not sure why, but I seem to always be a little surprised when there really are still 3 babies in there! I think I still believe I am going to wake up one day and this is all going to be a crazy dream. Anyway, it's always fun to see the babies all moving around and to see their hearts fluttering.
The Doctor unfortunately did not get very good pictures this time. Baby A (the first picture) definitely looks like an alien. "She" seemed to be looking straight at us and if we hadn't of gotten a really good picture last time I think I'd be a little concerned that it really was an alien. Baby B (second and bottom picture) seemed to be waving at us and looked like "he" was trying to eat his foot. Baby C (third picture) was also in a strange position and seemed to be looking at us. I think "he's" going to be really
I was really surprised to see them so active and surprised that I can't feel them moving yet. They are each about 3 inches and that means 9 inches of babies! I definitely should begin to feel them soon. I've gained a whopping 7 pounds! Whoohoo! I am so proud! :) I guess you don't hear that too often! We will be taking a new "tummy" picture soon! Stay tuned!

Top Reactions
So, as we tell people that Triplets are coming, we sure have gotten some interesting reactions. Here is a list of some of the notable ones:
"Careful with the babies" Abel, who has 17 brothers and sisters, our taxi cab driver in Costa Rica said this when he saw us around town.
"Man, that is great, if you wanted it?"
"Holy Schmoley!"
"I am really happy for you" while not being able to hide a face that clearly exhibits the fear of I am terrified for you
"How are you going to be able to afford three kids?" We have no idea but God always provides!!!
"How does she get away with getting it all over with in one shot?" -- lets trade kids for a few days in a year:-)
FYI, our next ultrasound is on 3/19 so we will have some more pictures of the ninos and their mother around then...

Spring Forward!! (13 Weeks)
Upon revelation that today was spring forward day and that we lost an hour, Rebecca immediately said, "Well, that means its time for me to eat again!" The ninos, as we have been calling them, seem to get hungry at least every 1.5 hours.
Yesterday we visited the Kapics, some friends who had Triplets on Jan 27th. The 6 week old babies were complete angels and gave us such a peace and excitement about what God has in store for us. Emily and Danny answered all of our hundreds of questions and gave us advice on everything from surviving a triplet pregnancy to juggling the feeding of 3 babies at the same time. (See the picture of us holding all 3 babies...a glimpse into our future!) It was so much fun! Thanks Emily, Danny, Fletcher, Parker, and Bailey for such a fun day! Visiting with parents who are not only surviving but thriving encouraged us in so many ways. We look forward
to the 6 of our kids playing together in the future! :)
Also, Rebecca's tummy is beginning to get bigger at 12 weeks! Word is that they are each about two inches right now! This is definitely only just the beginning... Our next appointment is on March 19, please be praying for healthy development and that Rebecca finds the right work/rest balance during this time.

Ultrasound Pictures
Here are the ultrasound pictures from last Friday at 11 weeks. Baby A is the one who has its own sack and placenta. Rebecca is convinced that it is a girl because of the way that she is laying.

Babies B & C are the identical twins. They are just a little bit smaller than their sibling but have some time to catch up. Baby B has Rebecca's looks, as you might be able to see it is the most photogenic. It was also the most active and was doing twists and turns.

Baby C will probably be the biggest kicker merely because it is probably in the most cramped space near the bottom. Overall, they all are bouncing around in there pretty well right now.

Finally, attached is what will likely be the last ultrasound picture with all 3 babies at once. They are getting so big that they don't fit on just one screen!

It's Identical Twins, no wait, there are three! TRIPLETS!!!
We had a much needed fun and relaxing time in Costa Rica. It was amazing timing to take a break from life in SF to digest the upcoming life changing events. We just returned to have our first visit with the "high risk" pregnancy department yesterday and decided that it was finally okay to share the news... we are having TRIPLETS!!! It was quite the shock of a lifetime! Considering we have no twins or triplets on either side of our families and we didn't do any fertility treatments, we have no idea what happened! Other than, God wants to bless us with 3 babies! There is no other explanation! :)
Our first reaction was shock, terror, and denial! However, we have turned the corner to acceptance and finally to joy and excitement! We have no idea why God would want to give us 3 babies at once, but all we can say is that they are going to be super special!
Our doctor's appointment went really well yesterday. We definitely have 3 bouncing babies in there! They were literally doing flips. It's amazing that they have already grown so big and that I am already starting to show... at 11 weeks! I am eating like crazy because I am literally hungry 24/7 and am well on my way to gaining that 60-70 pounds I was told I should gain! Holy cow!
